I have always loved writing, and I love tea, so I have decided to write a book about tea. Only, I don't want this to be just about me, but about you, and your love for tea.
I am collecting stories about your favorite teatime, and I would love for you to share your story with me.
Check out my story below, and please consider sharing your favorite tea story with me for my newest book.
I still remember the very first time I enjoyed Afternoon Tea. It was somewhat unplanned, my love for tea service, and really started out as a way to try and find the perfect business for me. You see, I never set out to enjoy tea or even own a tearoom but that’s what happened after my first afternoon tea.
I remember the conversation well. I told my husband that I wanted to open a business in my hometown. He asked me what type of business and I told him that I envisioned our town resembling the beautiful calmness and elegance of every town ever shown on a holiday special. You know the ones… beautifully decorated, visitors meandering, greeting pleasantries street side. Yes, I wanted it all, and the only way I knew to do that was by creating the perfect quaint gift shop.
My advisors had other plans. Not only was retail hard, but traditional retail was becoming a dying breed. Instead, it was suggested that I look to do something else in addition to my dream of owning a gift shop. Perhaps a bakery, or an ice cream shop, they suggested. None of those ignited my passion, so I kept looking.
One afternoon, while my husband was sitting at a stoplight in a neighboring town, he looked over and noticed a gift shop on the corner and called me right away.
“I have a great idea for you. Why don’t you open a tearoom,” he exclaimed. He really was so excited at this prospect.
“Um, well,” I hesitated. “I don’t like tea.”
